How to Create themes for your Sony Ericsson
![]()
There are a whole bunch of sharewares and free programs out there that claim to assist you in create themes for your cellular phone. But a program which I found to be very user-friendly for creating themes is the Lasyk mTC v2. It’s great for new users because it’s not too complicated and the program does not drown you with too much customization or settings. You can also use the program to read themes, for example ones you can download from websites. Insert the website: Lasyk Networks myThemeCreator - mTC v2, and press ‘Get mTC’ and simply select the program type most suited to you.
The next step now is to download it to your computer. Find a location and remember where you downloaded. BUT wait; this just downloads the “INSTALL” program. You need to “RUN” the program to have the mTC v2 installed on your computer. Now simply, select where you want the theme creator to be located and it will then automatically install onto your computer. Remember to save the program to a location you will remember, as I have had experiences forgetting the program location.
Open up the Lasyk mTC v2 program and you will see a bunch of screens on the top and various options for you to select. I would recommend selecting the images you plan to use for the themes, as after browsing through my files for some time, the program would freeze up. Press graphic editor and you will see a large box and you can select your images.
The feature I find most useful, is that after selecting the image, you have the option to either crop the image to the required screen size (select in the section Device Selection), or to Resize the image. After applying the images onto the theme, you need to apply to the theme and save to your computer. The option to change the color of the text, the size of the clock and other features is also great. Extremely useful function as if the text does not blend with the color of the background, you will be able to change it.
After you are comfortable with your theme layout and design, head towards the top left corner of the program and press File. Find ‘Save as’ and the theme will save to your computer as a theme file, which you can easily upload to your phone immediately after finishing the theme.
Overall, this is a well laid out theme creating program, easy to use and takes probably no more than 10, 15 minutes to create a theme. Would recommend this to anyone interested in creating their own themes, and also a helpful tool for reading theme files after you have downloaded them.
